Carbon Monoxide Alarm Check

Stay safe with our Carbon Monoxide Alarm Check service, ensuring your alarms are up-to-date and properly located to guard against the silent threat of CO.

Why Carbon Monoxide Alarms are Vital

Every home with a solid fuel appliance or fire must have a working carbon monoxide (CO) alarm. It’s not just a good idea—it’s your main line of defence. Carbon monoxide is a silent danger; it has no smell, colour, or taste and can cause harm without you even knowing it’s there. That’s why an in-date and functional CO alarm is crucial for your safety and peace of mind.

My Checking Process

When I visit your home, I’ll first locate your CO alarms and test each one to ensure they’re working correctly. It’s not enough for an alarm to just sound—it needs to be sensitive enough to detect CO at low levels to give you time to react. I’ll also check the expiry date on each alarm because, like any other safety device, they need to be replaced after a certain period.

Alarm Placement

The location of your CO alarm is just as important as the alarm itself. I’ll check to ensure it’s placed where it will be most effective—that means away from drafts that could dilute CO concentrations and at a height where it will most likely detect rising gas. If your alarm isn’t in the best spot, I’ll advise you on where to move it for better protection.

Education on Carbon Monoxide

Part of my service includes educating you on the risks of CO. I’ll talk to you about how CO is produced, the signs of poisoning to watch out for, and what to do if your alarm ever goes off. Knowing this information can make a real difference in an emergency situation.

Regular Maintenance

I recommend regular checks of your CO alarms to ensure they’re always ready to protect you. This is part of maintaining a safe home environment, especially where solid fuel appliances are used. I can schedule these checks for you, so you never have to worry about forgetting this important task.

Follow-Up and Support

After the check, I’m available to answer any questions you might have about your CO alarms or carbon monoxide safety in general. If you need additional alarms or replacements, I can help you choose the right one and install it for you. Your safety is my priority, and that means making sure you’re well-protected against the threat of CO.

  • Very impressed with the service that Chimneasy provided

I was very impressed with the service that Chimneasy provided. I had the woodburner installed a year ago and this was my first time using a chimney sweep. I did not know what to expect but Ben explained what the process would entail from start to finish. The wood burner looks like new again! Ben even tested my smoke alarms for me. Highly recommend.
